About the Park

Hersheypark is an amusement park in Hershey, PA. This park was founded by Milton Hershey in 1906, who also created the Hershey Company. This park gets over three million people annually. In the park, there is a variety of coasters, including an inverted, a hybrid, one indoor, two wooden, one water, and nine steel.

Cocoa Cruiser

The Cocoa Cruiser is a small family coaster, capping out at only 14 feet. It is similar to a ride at Knoebels (See Kozmo’s Kurves from Knoebels Amusement Resort). It only has 279 feet of track, but the car goes around it three times before ending. This small family coaster opened in 2014 and was built by the manufacturer Zamperla.

Coal Cracker

The Coal Cracker is Hersheypark’s ‘Water Coaster.’ This coaster has a raft instead of a car, and the track is water covered. The Coal Cracker has a height of 55 feet with a 49-foot drop. It has a moderate speed, and a track length of around 2,000 feet, with a duration of approximately three and a half minutes. It opened in 1973 and was designed by Arrow Development.

Trailblazer

The Trailblazer at Hersheypark is a family coaster, without much height or speed, but is still a favorite among many riders. This smooth, steel coaster has a maximum height of 52 feet, and reaches a max speed of just 45 miles per hour. The track length of the Trailblazer is about 1,600 feet, and lasts around one minute and 15 seconds. Designed by Arrow Development, the Trailblazer opened in the park in 1974, making it the second oldest operating coaster in the park and the oldest operating steel roller coaster.

Wild Mouse

The Wild Mouse at Hersheypark is a classic ride. This coaster is 45 feet tall, reaching a maximum speed of only 28 miles per hour. The track is about 1,215 feet in length, and lasts just under two minutes in duration. This coaster opened in 1999 and was designed by the Werner Steel company. The Wild Mouse features multiple, non-banked 180-degree hairpin turns, forcing the car to quickly change directions.

Fahrenheit

The Fahrenheit at Hersheypark is an orange and blue steel coaster. This coaster has a height of 121 feet, with a lift hill straight up and a drop at 97 degrees, curving back under the hill. The Fahrenheit reaches a max speed of 58 miles per hour, and 2,700 feet of track length. The designer of Fahrenheit was designed by Intamin, and opened at Herysheypark in 2008.

Laff Trakk

The Laff Track is Hersheypark’s indoor roller coaster that is about 50 feet tall. Its theme is based around a ride through a laugh house. The Laff Trakk reaches speeds of 40 miles per hour, and has 20,400 feet of metal track. The car on this roller coaster is unlike any other at this park- it has two people facing forwards and two facing backwards, but during the ride it turns at points, so riders can face both front and back.

Comet

The Comet is Hersheypark’s oldest operating coaster opening in 1946. This coaster is made of wooden tracks and supports, painted blue and white. The Comet reaches hights of 96 feet, with a 78-foot drop. It has 3,360 feet of track, and hits a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour. The Comet was built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company under the direction of the park’s founder, Milton Hershey.

Lighting Racer

The Lighting Racer is a wooden racing coaster, with two mirrored tracks. The height of the coaster is roughly 90 feet, and its duration is about two minutes and twenty seconds, maxing out at 51 miles per hour. The racing cars are named Thunder (Green) and Lightning (Red). This coaster was custom designed by Great Coasters International (GCI) and opened in the year 2000.

Jolly Rancher Remix

The Jolly Rancher Remix is a steel roller coaster in Hersheypark, reopening in 2022. Before, it was the Sidewinder, which opened in 1991. The Jolly Rancher Remix car backs out of the station and first goes up a hill backwards, with the riders facing the station. It then drops down and reaches a max speed of 47 miles per hour, and the track features four loops and a tunnel. the car speeds up another hill, with the riders facing up, and drops backwards, where the car goes through the tunnel and four loops backwards. This coaster is a brightly-colored ride, featuring Jolly Rancher-flavored smoke in the tunnel and a height of 116 feet.
