First added at Hersheypark in 1977, this classic coaster was the first looped coaster in the park. Even though the SooperDooperLooper only caps out at 75 feet, it is a favorite ride at Hersheypark. This coaster has about 2,600 feet of steel tracks. This ride takes roughly 2 minutes, and has a maximum of 45 miles per hour. This coaster has just one loop, but is a circle, unlike most looped coasters which are more of an oval shape to eliminate G-force.
The Great Bear is the only inverted roller coaster at Hersheypark, which means that the car is hanging from the track above. Opening in 1998, this steel coaster has a total height of around 90 feet, a 124-foot drop, a max speed of around 60 miles per hour, and has 2,800 feet of track length. This ride lasts about 2 minutes and 55 seconds. It was named the Great Bear because of the sound the car makes as it drives under the inverted track. The Great Bear was custom designed by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M).
The Storm Runner is Hersheypark’s first and only launch coaster. This roller coaster hits its max speed at 72 miles per hour, going from zero to 72 in just two seconds. It is 150 feet tall, and features a 180-foot, 90-degree angle drop. The Storm Runner was built in 2004 by Intamin AG. It has red track and white supports, and a track length of approximately 2,600 feet.
The Wildcat at Hersheypark was a wooden coaster, originally opening in May of 1996. In 2022, the Wildcat underwent construction to gain a new lift hill, more track, and metal tracks. One summer later, the Wildcat reopened as the Wildcat’s Revenge, with steel tracks and wooden supports, becoming Hersheypark’s first hybrid coaster. The Wildcat originally had a height of 106 feet, but gained 34 more feet when it became the Wildcat’s Revenge. This new coaster caps out at 62 miles per hour, and has the longest underflip in the world. It has a counterclockwise 270 degree barrel roll, and has upside down track for the longest time ever.
The Skyrush at Hersheypark is a classic modern roller coaster, reaching maximum heights of 200 feet. This yellow and light blue coaster reaches speeds of 76 miles per hour across 3,600 feet of track. The main drop hill of the Skyrush is a 212-foot drop at an 85 degree angle, five zero-G hills, and multiple high-speed turns. This coaster opened in 2012, and held the title of Hersheypark’s tallest roller coaster until 2020, when the Candymonium was built ten feet taller. The Skyrush was built around another coaster, the Comet, and these two coasters each have track that crosses over eachother’s.
The Candymonium at Hersheypark is a steel, 210-foot roller coaster located near the front of the park. It’s the tallest coaster in the park over taking the Skyrush by 10 ft. First opening in July 2020, the chocolate-colored roller coaster reaches max speeds of about 76 miles per hour and over 4,000 feet of track. This coaster was designed by the Swiss corporation Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M), who is known for creating extreme ultra-smooth roller coasters.
